Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take my insurance, and what will I owe per session?
We are in-network with several major insurance plans. If you're in-network, you'll owe only your copay or coinsurance per session. If you're out-of-network, we'll provide a Superbill you can submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. Call us with your insurance card and we'll verify your benefits and tell you exactly what you'll owe before your first appointment.
What if I don't have insurance — what are your self-pay rates?
Our standard self-pay rate is $160 per 50-60 minute session. We also offer a Good Faith Estimate before your first appointment so you know the total cost upfront. If cost is a concern, please ask about our sliding-scale options.
Are you accepting new clients, and how soon can I be seen?
Yes, we're currently accepting new clients. Most clients are seen within 1–2 weeks of their initial inquiry. If you have an urgent need, let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate a same-week appointment.
Do you offer telehealth, or in-person only?
We offer both. Telehealth is available via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, and in-person sessions are available at our Newark, Delaware office. You can choose whichever format feels most comfortable for you.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. You'll share what brings you to therapy, and we'll discuss your goals and what you hope to get out of counseling. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. Everything you share in therapy is confidential and protected by HIPAA. There are a few limited exceptions required by law, which we'll explain in detail during your first session.
How long are sessions, and how often will we meet?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Most clients meet weekly or biweekly at the start, then move to less frequent sessions as they make progress.
How long does therapy take?
It depends on your goals and situation. Some clients see meaningful progress in 8–12 sessions; others benefit from longer-term work. You're always in control of how long you continue.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can help if you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or sad, or if you're facing a life transition or relationship challenges. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit. A single consultation session is a low-pressure way to find out.
Do you work with teens?
Yes. We work with adolescents (typically ages 13+) on anxiety, depression, school stress, identity, family conflict, and more. For teens, we involve parents as appropriate while still giving the teen a private, safe space to talk.
Do you provide court-involved services — reunification therapy, coparenting counseling, or documentation for attorneys?
Yes. We provide reunification therapy, coparenting counseling, and reconciliation therapy for court-involved families. We also work with attorneys and courts, and can provide appropriate documentation when required. Visit our Attorneys page or Contact Us to learn more.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that you cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a fee. We understand that life happens — just reach out and we'll work with you.
